Brenda Jo Meinz Shaw, 57, of Liberal, Mo., passed away Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Brenda was born Oct. 9, 1949, in Cape Girardeau, the only child of Charles "Whitey" and Mary Lou Bennett Meinz. She and Thomas J. Shaw were married Nov. 30, 1968, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau
She graduated from a Cape Girardeau high school and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
Brenda was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Lamar, Mo. She enjoyed the time she spent working with children as a volunteer reader at Liberal Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband Tom of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Shanda Shaw of Liberal, Nathan and Stephanie Shaw of Bloomington, Ill.; five grandchildren, Paige, Sydney, Nolan, Piper and Garrett; an uncle, John Bennett and wife Lynda of Batesville, Ark.; and five cousins.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in Lamar. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar. A vigil service will be held at 7:30.
Contributions are suggested to the Fred and Margaret Shaw Memorial Fund. This fund was recently established upon their deaths for the charities and scholarships that were favored by Fred and Margaret.
