Brenda Rutherford

Brenda K. Rutherford, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at Sells Rest Home in Matthews, Mo.

She was born Feb. 16, 1958, in St. Charles, Mo., to Allen and Sylvia Flanigan Lang. She first married Steve Proffer of Glenallen, Mo., and then married John Rutherford of Marble Hill, Mo.

Rutherford was of the Pentecostal belief. She had an associate's degree from Metro Business College.

Survivors include a son, Chad Proffer of Clarksburg, W.Va.; a daughter, Brandy Hunter of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Greg Lang, Buddy Lang of Florida; four sisters, Karen Henson and Earlene Flanigan of Bonne Terre, Mo., Carrie of Oklahoma, Sheila of Montgomery City, Mo.; and a grandchild, Samara Proffer of Clarksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

Donations are being accepted by Brenda's family to help defray funeral expenses in care of the funeral home.
