Brandon Mize, 25, of Jackson died Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his home.

He was born Dec. 8, 1997, in Cape Girardeau to Dennis W. and Karla Sanders Mize.

He was a 2016 graduate of Oak Ridge High School.

He loved making people laugh and to tease people.

He participated in Special Olympics, where he represented the State of Missouri in 2018 U.S. Games in Seattle, where he won three gold medals and one silver medal in power lifting.

Survivors include his mother, Karla Mize of Jackson; two brothers, Paul Michael Mize and Christian Dorris, both of Jackson; three sisters, Marla Elizabeth Mize of Oak Ridge, Alexia Dorris of Jackson and Jelayna Dorris of Jackson; a nephew, Xander Meyer of Oak Ridge; paternal-grandmother, Ethel Mize of Jackson; maternal-grandmother, Linda Sanders of Cape Girardeau; two aunts, Kaye Sanders of Florida and Marla Sample "The Crazy Old Lady" of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; two uncles, Galen Sanders of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Danny Sanders of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 25, at Bethel Assembly of God in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at noon Thursday, May 25, at the church, with the Rev. Phil Roop officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri, 1625 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
