PUXICO -- Funeral service for Bonnie King of Puxico will be held at 1 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. The Revs. Ray Placher and Orville Huffman will officiate, with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City.
King, 71, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at her home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1926, at Mesler, daughter of Everett and Minnie Izetta Woodard Lackey. She first married Hillis U. Jones, who died Dec. 7, 1964. She later married Gerald King June 28, 1968, near Puxico.
King received a bachelor of science in elementary education and master's degree in adult education from Southeast Missouri State University.
She was a retired teacher, having taught at Mingo Job Corps, Puxico, Bell City, and Bloomfield.
King sang with the Sunshine Quartet 10 years, was pianist and sang with Kinder Chapel Trio several years. She was a member of Hills Church near Bloomfield.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, Stanley Jones of Hiram, Marvin Jones of Puxico, Gordan Jones of Chattanooga, Tenn., Rex Jones of Pocahontas, Kenneth Jones of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Bethel Cook of Abilene, Texas; a stepson, Danny King of Poplar Bluff; three stepdaughters, Cathy Dunnivan of Advance, Sherry Spencer and Cindy Kennedy of Poplar Bluff; 28 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and three sisters.
