CYPRESS, Ill. -- Bon Karraker, 83, of Cypress died Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005, at Herrin Hospital in Herrin, Ill.
He was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Cypress, son of Hezzie and Ethel Mull Karraker.
Karraker was a graduate of Bryant and Stratton College in Chicago. He was employed 23 years with Shell Oil Co. in Chicago, retiring Feb. 1, 1972. He served as mayor of Cypress from 1973 to 1981, and had worked at Crain Funeral Home from 1980 until his death.
He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church, and attended First Baptist Church in Vienna. He was a member of Stone Arch Lodge 953 and Egyptian Order of Eastern Star Chapter 30 in Vienna.
Karraker served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include a brother, Richard Karraker of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Jay Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Cypress.
