Bobby Gene Windeknecht, 86, of Scott City died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 13, 1933, in Cape Girardeau to Wilson Arno and Lorene Elizabeth Sides Windeknecht.

He and Mildred Lorene Bogenpohl were married Nov. 19, 1955, at Egypt Mills. She preceded him in death May 21, 2010.

Bobby was a graduate of College High School and then served in the Army from 1953 to 1954.

He was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, where he served as Sunday school supervisor and was in the choir, and was active in dartball. He lived following Christian family beliefs.

He worked at Eli Walker in Scott City, JCPenney in Cape Girardeau and the Antique Centre Mall in Cape Girardeau. In addition, he was a certified public accountant and did income taxes for many years.

Bobby was an avid comic book and antique collector.

Survivors include his sons, Alan Windeknecht of Scott City and Steve (Lisa) Windeknecht of Cape Girardeau; granddaughter, Amber (James) Page of Cape Girardeau; sister, Betty Walton of Chaffee, Missouri; and brother, Billy Windeknecht of Perkins, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Shelia Rene Windeknecht Eno; sister, Deloris Burnell; and brother, Paul Windeknecht.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, with the Rev. Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will follow at Eisleben Lutheran Church Cemetery in Scott City.

Memorial contributions may be given to Camp SEMO Wappapello and Eisleben Lutheran Church.
