Bobby Jean Wendel, 86, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 3, 1933, near Tilsit, son of Martin Henry and Nelda Elizabeth Kasten Wendel. He and Barbara Lee Schreiner were married Aug. 2, 1952. She survives.

Bobby graduated from Jackson High School. He was a member of New McKendree Methodist Church in Jackson. He worked for Fisher Auto Parts in Jackson, and after 25 years of service, he retired from Procter & Gamble in 1995. Bobby never met a stranger, he had a big smile and a boisterous voice and laugh, with an even louder and bigger heart. He loved and enjoyed people, no matter who you were or where you came from. Bobby will be missed by many.

Loving survivors include his wife of 67 years; son, Michael (Tandy) Wendel and a daughter, Kathy (David) Fadler, both of Jackson; grandchildren, Jaime (Skip) Stroder of Crump, Stacie (Steven) Dotson, Matthew (Kyndal) Fadler, all of Jackson, and Justin (Wesleyan Lynn) Fadler of Chester, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Cody (Elizabeth) Schremp, Tyler Stroder, Grant Dotson, Evan Dotson and Jensen Fadler; and brother, Charlie (Diane) Wendel, and sister, Shirley Soehl, both of Jackson.

Also surviving are numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Due to current health concerns, the family will honor Bobby with a private visitation and service, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

A memorial celebration of Bobby's life will be announced and held at a later date.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or charity of choice.
