Bobby Joe Vetter, 76, of Scott City died Wednesday, June 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Ralph G. and Clara H. Bucher Vetter. Bobby Joe Vetter, 76, of Scott City died Wednesday, June 23, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born Aug. 9, 1944, in Cape Girardeau to Ralph G. and Clara H. Bucher Vetter. He married Marie Hitt on Sept. 4, 1971.

Bob worked for Drury Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City and Knights of Columbus Council 6420 of Scott City, where he was a past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree Knight of St. Joseph Council 2283. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

If you ever attended a St. Joseph dinner or Knights of Columbus fish fry or Bingo, Bob was probably at the door collecting money. He delivered Meals on Wheels for St. Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Vetter of Scott City; a son, Robby Vetter of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Angie (Shane) Grissom and Becky (Dutch Miller) Vetter of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Randy (Lisa) Vetter of New Hamburg, Missouri; a sister, Betty (Terry) Langston of Jackson; two grandchildren, Kassidy (Josh) Drury and Zachary Grissom; a great-grandson, Connor Drury; two sisters-in-law, Melba (Harold) Buckner and Essie Slinkard; and many numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Vetter.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. and K of C service at 7:15 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
