MILLER CITY, Ill. -- Robert Joseph "Bobby" Pecord, 77, of Miller City passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home. He was born March 29, 1936, at Mound City, Ill., son of Merlin and Lena Deckard Pecord. Bobby was an Air Force veteran. He was a retired farmer, and owned and operated Sleepy's Lounge and Campground 15 years in the Horseshoe Lake area. MILLER CITY, Ill. -- Robert Joseph "Bobby" Pecord, 77, of Miller City passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 29, 1936, at Mound City, Ill., son of Merlin and Lena Deckard Pecord.

Bobby was an Air Force veteran.

He was a retired farmer, and owned and operated Sleepy's Lounge and Campground 15 years in the Horseshoe Lake area. He was a member and served as past president of Alexander-Pulaski County Sportsmen's Club of Miller City.

Bobby was loved and well respected by all who knew him. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, cook and guide for goose hunting. Bobby will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Wildy Pecord of Miller City; a son, Gaynes (Sandy) Pecord of Dongola, Ill.; a daughter, Kim Collins of Cobden, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Rosetta Keith of McClure, Ill.; a brother, Merlin (Jean) Pecord and a sister, Linda (Otis) Burris of Mill Creek, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Keith, Sara Keith, Lacy (Ryan) Turner, Jacob Pecord, Gabriel Pecord, Ashley Crawford, Brittany Bean and Eli Pecord; six great-grandchildren, Kalia Keith, Kaiden Keith, Addison Sneed, Reece Turner, Rollin Turner and Kayden Turner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A graveside memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Mound City National Cemetery, with the Revs. Verlee Eaker and Gene Hart officiating. Full military honors will be provided by members of Illinois National Guard Burial Team and area veterans.

Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
