SEDGEWICKVILL, Mo. — Bobby Lee Payne, 79, of Sedgewickville passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at his home.
He was born Aug. 3, 1943, to Lowell and Ruby Hahn Payne. Bobby and Teresa McIntyere were united in marriage in March 1969.
Bobby served in the U.S. Army proudly for 24 years. He was a life member of VFW Post No. 3838 in Cape Girardeau. Bobby was highly decorated in the Army, receiving the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign with seven National Defense Medal awards, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Occupation Germany Medal, Vietnamese Technical Service Medal and the Vietnamese Honor Medal.
After the military, he retired from Dana Corp. He loved his Lord Jesus, family and his country, and he would lay down his life for any and all. Bobby was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy. He was greatly loved, and he enjoyed his life and friends of Sedgewickville.
Bobby is survived by his loving spouse, Teresa Payne of the home; son, Michael Payne of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sharon Payne (John) Pryor of Sedgewickville and Constance (Michael) Reyes of Virginia Beach, Virginia; brother, Danny (Rose) Dyer of Green Bay, Wisconsin; four sisters, Ruby Diane Sims of Cape Girardeau, Betty Umfleet of Cape Girardeau, Peggy (David) Fiedler and Patty Park; grandchildren, Brandon Wells, Grant Wells, Michael Reyes, Gavyn Payne, Erin Sinuard, Courtney Fuller and Penny Payne; and great-grandchildren Bonnie, Bobby and Kaiden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donnie Hunsaker; and two sisters, Judy Debord and Jean Mayhew
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec, 28, at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home, with Pastor Kathleen Meyer officiating. Burial will take place in Russell Heights Cemetery near Jackson.
