SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Barbara Faye Avery, 56, of Scott City passed away suddenly at 4:05 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Bobbie was born May 25, 1944, at Cape Girardeau, to Theodore Aden Wolfe and Mildred Fay Pinkston Wolfe.
She graduated from Illmo-Scott City High School in 1962. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. She married Gary Francis Stubenrauch on Dec. 31, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Slay officiating. She married Harry Douglas Avery on Nov. 14, 1974.
Bobbie and her family lived in Scott City her whole life. She worked at Rhodes 101 Stops, Coop's Convenience Store and the Knights of Columbus Hall in Scott City the majority of the years that she has worked.
She devoted her life and every waking moment to her family and friends.
Her husband, Doug, resides in Scott City. Her three girls and their spouses are Allen and Leslie Simmons of Scott City, Dennis and Shelly Huckstep of Scott City and Sonja and Bruce Westrich of Chaffee. Her five "grandbabies" are Leslie's sons, Jay and Rhett Simmons; Shelly's daughters, Heather and Madison Huckstep; and Sonja's son, Brandon Sandvos.
Her sister, Millie Sue Ancell, along with her husband and family, reside in Scott City. Her stepfather, Willard Basil Crites, also resides in Scott City.
Her father and mother preceded her in death in February of 1967 and January of 1997, respectively. Her nephew, Gregory Todd Ancell, passed away in November of 1990.
Visitation will be Monday, July 10, 2000, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. There will be a rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Monday.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel. The Rev. David Coon will officiate. Burial will follow in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
