Bob Strack, 70, of Jackson passed away Monday, May 16, 2005, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 12, 1934, in Jackson, son of Edwin and Thelma Cottle Strack. He and Jackie Kasten were married Feb. 14, 1954, and she survives of the home.
Strack was originally in the residential construction business with his two brothers as Strack Bros. Construction and later as Robert Strack Construction.
Strack attended the former Clover Hill Elementary School, St. Paul Lutheran School and was a 1952 graduate of Jackson High School. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where he was a past member of the men's club and former Sunday school superintendent. He was also a former member of the Jackson Jaycees and Lions Clubs and previously served in a National Guard unit in Cape Girardeau.
He had been president and vice president of the SEMO Home Builders Association and a city alderman in Jackson. Strack was a fan of Jackson High School sports and previously enjoyed bowling on the Wednesday Night All-Star League at the Jackson Bowling Lanes.
Loving survivors include his wife of 51 years; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverly and Larry Byrd of Cordova, Tenn., Mary Lowry of Jackson, Alicia and Tony Jaco of Jackson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Stella Mae Strack of Cape Girardeau, Vernon "Bud" and Betty Strack of Jackson; six grandchildren, Amanda, Lynsey and Rachel Lowry of Jackson, Dylan Byrd of Cordova, Tyler Trierweiler and Matthew Jaco, both of Jackson; and his mother-in-law, Georgia Kasten.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law Louis Kasten.
Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and Thursday after 9 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
