CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Robert C. "Bob" Smith, 60, of Chaffee, our dearest husband, daddy, paw paw, brother, uncle and friend, went into the Father's arms Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014.
He was born July 8, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Clyde Harold and Kathryn Ruth Edwards Smith. He married Georgia Ann Kirchdoerfer on Aug. 30, 1975.
Bob was produce manager at Schnucks in Cape Girardeau 39 years. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, St. Ambrose Men's Club, and president of Chaffee Housing Authority.
Anyone who ever had the blessing of knowing him cannot deny that unforgettable laugh and his smile. His witty sense of humor could make you laugh so hard you would cry, whether at work or at home. Bob enjoyed looking at and buying the best cars, keeping his movie theater at the highest level, watching movies and Johnny Carson, going to Branson, Missouri, on family vacations and listening to his loud stereo. Above all, he treasured his time with his family. He loved spending time with Georgia, his wife of 39 years; oldest, "middlest" and baby girls, as well as his grandbabies. He was so tickled to squeeze their cheeks and give those big hugs and kisses that will never be forgotten and always be missed.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia of the home; three daughters, Christina (Jim) Duby of Cape Girardeau, Jessica (Josh) Hanlon of Chaffee and Ashlie (Scott) Johnston of Scott City; a brother, Ronnie (Vickie) Smith of Jefferson City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Grace Cassout, Tryston, Drue and Kyleigh Duby, Craig, Jocelyn and Asher Hanlon and Colby Johnston.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Donna Cannon.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Church, with the Rev. William Hennecke Jr. as celebrant and the Rev. Randy Tochtrop as concelebrant. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
