Bobby Joe Scowden, 71, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1947, at Sturdivant, Missouri, the son of Oren P. and Annie Simmers Scowden. Bob married his beloved wife, Teresa Skinner, in 1992, and she survives of the home.
Bob graduated from Zalma (Missouri) High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.
He retired from Nestle Purina in Bloomfield, Missouri, after working there for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Scowden; a daughter, Bobbie Jo Scowden of Thebes, Illinois; a son, Joey Dwane Scowden of Thebes; a stepdaughter, Amber (Mike) Shortland of Jackson; grandchildren, Brennon Hill, Haileigh Richardson, Caleb Richardson, Trey Richardson and Kennedy Shortland; and two sisters, Shirley (Gary) McCullough and Rachel Carlton, both of Advance, Missouri. He was a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lloyd and Floyd Harris and Donald, Dwane and Dwight Scowden; and two sisters, Margaret White and Barbara Shell.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
