TAMMS, Ill. -- Bob Ransom, 79, of Tamms, formerly of St. Louis, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at his home.
He was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Somerville, Tenn., son of Leon and Willie May Cleaves Ransom. He and Anne Miller were married Dec. 29, 1962. She preceded him in death Feb. 21, 1995.
Mr. Ransom was a truck driver. He was a member of Pulaski County VFW Post 8891, and loved to fish and hunt.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia (John) Gillespie of Hazelwood, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Jordan of St. Louis; two grandsons, Ransom Gillespie of Chicago, Nicholas Jordan of Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Cierra and Jessica Jordan of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Joelle Gillespie of Chicago, and Katrina Jordan of Kansas City; a sister, Alma Ector of Memphis, Tenn.; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son, David Jordan in August 2003; and several brothers.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Al Campbell officiating. Interment will be in National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with military honors by a ritual team comprised of area veterans groups sponsored by VFW Post 8891.
