Bob Elwood Clippard, 94, of Jackson passed away Wednes-day, May 22, 2024, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 11, 1930, in Oak Ridge, son of Truman and Ellen B. Abernathy Clippard. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Mattie L. Goza, on Sept. 9, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas.

Bob was a 1949 graduate of Jackson High School. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, lifetime member of Elks lodges in Cape Girardeau and Jackson, a member of Jackson Jaycees and Jackson Lions Club.

He served five years in the U.S. Navy Reserves and had been employed at Koch Manufacturing Co., Frisco Railroad in Chaffee, Hart’s Bread and Moon Distributing, and worked 30 years as an agent for Prudential Life Insurance Co. After retiring, he started a mobile home park in Jackson.

Bob was an avid dancer and supporter of his community and the Jackson Indians. Most of all, Bob enjoyed time with his grandchildren.

Loving survivors include his wife of 73 years, Mattie Clippard; three children, Sue (Ron) LeGrand, Mike (Kathleen) Clippard and Gregg Clippard, all of Jackson; three grandchildren, Carrie Ann Clippard Perez, Sarah (Jeff) Livesay and Lori (Todd) Serpico; six great-grandchildren, Avery Perez, Alec Perez, Aiden Livesay, Collin Livesay, Max Serpico and Lola Serpico; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Truman “Gene” Clippard.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Elks Service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests contributions be made to American Heart Association or to Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.
