ULLIN, Ill. -- Funeral service for James Robert "Bob" Baker of Ullin will be held at 11 a.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with the Revs. Mark Best and John Kern officiating. Burial will be in Ullin Cemetery, with graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.

Friends may call at the funeral home until service time.

Baker, 72, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996, at his home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1923, at Kewanee, son of Fred and Mae McAdoo Baker. He and Betty Trexler were married Nov. 8, 1947.

Baker had been a heavy equipment operator, and was village clerk of Ullin more than 30 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Operating Engineers Local 318, and charter member of Ullin Civic Club. He was a six-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wes and David Baker of Goreville; two grandchildren; and a stepgranddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
