Blanche Rahvee Akers, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born July 23, 1924, in Leadwood, Mo., to George A. and Era Lydia Upchurch Miller. She and Frank T. Akers were married May 25, 1983, in Clayton, Mo. He preceded her March 10, 1994.
Mrs. Akers served with the U.S. Air Force in Japan during World War II. After her discharge from the service, she was a nurse's aide 17 years at Normandy Osteopathic Hospital in Normandy, Mo.
Survivors include three sons, William P. (Mary) Barrett of O'Fallon, Mo., Price B. (Mary) Barrett of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Brian K. (Jo Ann) Barrett of Marble Hill, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Barrett; two sisters, Georgia Kathcart and Kaye Barrett.
There will be no service. A private burial will follow at a later date.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
