ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Bishop Burd of Anna was held Tuesday at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiated, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Garden at Villa Ridge.
Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Burd, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1992, at Union County Hospital.
He was born Dec. 22, 1905, in Olmsted, son of Edward G. and Josie Knupp Burd. He and Grace Basse were married July 10, 1929, in Villa Ridge.
Burd was former mayor of Olmsted, and former president of Olmsted State Bank. He owned and operated Bishop Burd Highway Construction Co., and was founder and former chairman of the board of Absorbent Clay Products Inc. at Mounds. He was a member of First Evangelical Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marian Michel and Lynn LeFevre of Anna; a son, Phillip Burd of Anna; a brother, Clyde Burd of Olmsted; a sister, Lena Bellamy of Cairo; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
