Birtie E. Cook, 89, of Jackson died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 15, 1917, in Hurricane, Mo., daughter of Ransom J. and Effie Limbaugh Garland. She and the Rev. Odell Cook were married Sept. 15, 1935, and he died April 13, 2003.
Cook was a member of the Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Cook of Sedgewickville, Mo., and the Rev. Donald Cook of Marble Hill, Mo.; three daughters, Lela Fern Cory of Jackson, Shirley Hovis of Greenville, Mo., and Glenda Cook of Jackson; a brother, W. Jay Garland, and a sister, Nadine Welker, both of Marble Hill; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, eight sisters and two granddaughters.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Cook and Jimmie Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
