ELWOOD, Neb. -- Billy Val Williams, 65, of Elwood died Friday, April 26, 1996, at his home after an extended illness.
He was born May 4, 1930, at Matthews to the late Val and Lela Lucinda Mainord Williams. We was a Korean War veteran and served in the Seabees and the U.S. Navy. He was a grain buyer and cotton elevator manager and had worked for the Allen-Davis Gin Co. in Kewanee, the Bunge Corp. in Shawneetown, Ill., the B.C. Christopher Co., for which he managed a river grain terminal and grain elevator in Nebraska. He also managed the Peavy Grain Co. in Nebraska. He was a member of the American Legion Post at Bertrand, Neb., and a member of the Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington, Neb.
His first wife was Doris L. Brotherton, whom he married Sept. 28, 1947, in Lilbourn. She died April 16, 1972. He married Mary Christine Broman on Sept. 18, 1973, in Bertrand, Neb.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Cindy Lucas of Kearney, Neb., and Patty Rimpley and Christi Leibhart, both of Lexington, Neb.; a foster brother, Bob Mainord of Bertrand, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
