JONESBORO, Ill. -- Billy Lee Travis, 80, of Jonesboro died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
He was born Sept. 24, 1924, in Wolf Lake, Ill., son of Aud and Mollie Morton Rain.
Travis worked as a towboat captain for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 Anna VFW and the Anna Moose Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Billy Mac Travis of Wolf Lake; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hileman Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Stamp officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 Anna VFW.
