COBDEN, Ill. -- Funeral for Billy Joe Tolson of Cobden will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. E. James Rivett will officiate, with burial in Herrin City Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Friday.
Tolson, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born July 29, 1932, in Barlow, Ky., son of Harry Arthur and Gladys Iola Newman Tolson. He and Idell Wilson were married Dec. 28, 1951, in Cairo.
Tolson retired from Marion Penitentiary as safety officer, and was superintendent of Lick Creek Water District. He was a member of Illinois Police Association. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Byron Tolson of Cobden; two daughters, Michele Oldani of Christopher, Karen Smith of Carbondale; a sister, Tamara Millard of Austin, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.
