William Joseph "Billy Joe" Schaffer, 65, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Nov. 6, 1934, at Lilbourn, Mo., son of Alva "Joe" and Emma Long Schaffer. He and Barbara Dees were married Nov. 24, 1989.
Schaffer was formerly of Lilbourn.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Brian Cooper of New Madrid, Mo.; one daughter, Tammy Dirickson of Texarkana, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Robin Kimball of Lilbourn, Debbie Foster of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother, D.R. "Frog" Schaffer of Lilbourn; two sisters, Coretta Green of Fort Washington, Md., Glenda Crosno of Cape Girardeau; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Lilbourn, with the Revs. Bob Medlock and Charles Lance officiating. Burial will be in Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
