Billy Robertson

Jonesboro, Ill. -- Billy C. Robertson, 72, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at his home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Grand Tower, Ill., the son of Bill and Louise Robertson. He and Elizabeth L. Norton were married Sept. 10, 1955, in Murphysboro, Ill.

Robertson was employed as a chief engineer with the American Electric Power Co. for more than 25 years and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Greg Robertson and Jeffrey Robertson of Alto Pass, Ill., Keith Robertson of Jonesboro, Scott Robertson of Murphysboro and Stephen Robertson of Grand Tower; five daughters, Patti Gray of Alto Pass, Gina Iman of Salem, Ill., Lisa Godwin of DeSoto, Ill., Sara Robertson of Jonesboro and Jennifer Robertson of Kentucky; three brothers, Frank Robertson of Effingham, Ill., J.R. Robertson of Murphysboro, and Mike Robertson of Pekin, Ill.; six sisters, Shirley Wells of Grand Tower, Blanche Garms of Anna, Ill., Sue Bradshaw of Anna, Linda Dowdy of Olive Branch, Ill., Donna Lambert of East Peoria, Ill., Mary Vandergill of Murphysboro; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother and four grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Alto Pass Cemetery. The Rev. Davy Miller will officiate, with interment to follow.
