Billy L. "Bill" Mabrey, 67, of O'Fallon, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 1, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles, Mo.
He was born June 7, 1936, in Bollinger County, Mo., son of Clarence E. and Velma Mabrey.
Mabrey was a teacher in Thebes, Ill., for a year, and then was a teacher six years at Alma Schrader School in Cape Girardeau. He spent the remaining 28 years at Fort Zumwalt School District in O'Fallon (assistant principal for junior and senior high schools and then principal of Lewis and Clark Elementary at St. Peter's, Mo.). He retired in 1993 and was an instructor at St. Charles Community College nine years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in O'Fallon.
Survivors include his wife, Alyce; two sons, Chris Mabrey of O'Fallon, Darren Mabrey of Lantana, Texas; his father of Overland, Mo.; and two grandsons, Caleb Mabrey and Joshua Mabrey.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Friends may call at Baue Funeral and Memorial Center in St. Charles from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 8750 Veterans Memorial Parkway, O'Fallon. Burial will be in St. Charles Memorial Gardens, 3950 West Clay, St. Charles.
Memorials may be made to St. Charles Community College Scholarship Fund for Education Majors or to Living Word Christian Schools-Mid Rivers Campus, and sent to Baue Funeral Home, 3950 West Clay, St. Charles, Mo. 63301.
