BERNIE, Mo. -- Billy Humphries, 77, of Bernie died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter, Mo.

He was born March 4, 1923, at Pell City, Ala., son of William and Roxie Ann Rich Humphries. He and Earlene Dockins were married June 17, 1950, at Pell City.

Humphries retired as a lathe operator with Pamarco Roller Repair Factory in Batavia, Ill. He was a member of Oneness Pentecost Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randall Humphries of Bernie, Johnny Humphries of Dudley, Mo.; a daughter, Darlene Grimm of Cortland, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Rainey Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Maxwell Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery, with military rites to be conducted.
