Billy Lee Estes, 78, of Jackson passed away Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 7, 1934, in Jackson, son of Owen M. and Ruby M. Mason Estes.
Billy served more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy, primarily working in aviation mechanics. In addition to serving in Vietnam, he had many years of other foreign and sea service. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and multiple Good Conduct Medals and National Defense Service Medals. During his final enlistment, he received extensive training in supervisory principals, aviation-administration maintenance and collateral duty inspection/power plants. He was honorably discharged Nov. 15, 1978.
He was a charter member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
He is survived by his caregivers, Evelin Estes of Cape Girardeau and Gary McClard of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service will be announced at a later date. Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
