Billy D. Brown, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, son of Clarence and Orpha Weaver Brown. Bill was raised by his grandparents, William and Nora Weaver.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Northern Cherokee Nation.
Bill retired from Southeast Hospital in 1989 after 20 years service in the dietary department. He was a newspaper carrier for the Southeast Missourian about 20 years. Prior to that he worked at Colonial Tavern 15 years and at other restaurants.
In his younger days Bill was an avid rollerskater.
Survivors include two nephews, Larry Brown of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Tim Brown of Chaffee, Mo.; three cousins, Terrell Weaver of Perryville, Mo., Trudy Garland of Jackson, Truman Weaver of Park Hills, Mo.; and an adopted grandson, Ransom Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence "Bud" Brown.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Wesley Mueller and Bishop Brad Zaruba officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
