PUXICO -- Billy E. Bennett, 72, of Puxico died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 21, 1926, at Puxico, son of Edward R. and Delia Waller Bennett. He and Sibil Bass were married July 13, 1946, in Puxico.
Bennett was a retired truck driver and had been a teacher at Puxico and Wappapello Schools.
He was a member of Life Chapel Assembly of God Church and charter member of VFW Post 7822 in Puxico. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Bennett had lived in Cape Girardeau and Dodge City, Kan., before moving back to Puxico.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen Bennett of Chaffee, Edward Bennett of Park Hills; two daughters, Cynthia Keene of Brownwood, Vivian Reddick of Chaffee; two brothers, Bobby Bennett of Doniphan, John Bennett of Jenner, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley McLean of Dupo, Ill., Marilyn Brock of Cahokia, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 5 p.m. today. A VFW service will be held at 7.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Life Chapel Church, with the Rev. Eddie Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Puxico Cemetery.
