Billie Sheppard Jr.

Billie T. Sheppard Jr., 58, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 7, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, to Billie True and Ruth Luella Langston Sheppard Sr.

Billie served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He was a concrete truck driver and firefighter in Kansas City, Mo. He spent 19 years in Kansas City and moved back to Cape Girardeau in 2008. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and Red Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Travis (Crystal) Sheppard of Ouzinkie, Alaska, Bobby Sheppard of Jackson; a daughter, Kimberly (Christopher) Jordan of Jackson; two sisters, Cindy Lou (Marvin) Robinson of Clio, Iowa, Rebecca Ann (James) Rollins of Unionville, Mo.; fiancee, LeAnn McGonnigil of Jackson and her daughter, Cameo McGonnigil of Portsmouth, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and a stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Ethan Alexander Jordan.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Swain officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with military honors provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Firefighters Association of Missouri.
