Bill R. Ulrich, 71, of Jackson passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Chaffee, Mo., son of William and Colleta Halter Ulrich. He and Joanne Stoverink were married April 12, 1958. She survives.

Bill began working for Schonhoff Dairy in Cape Girardeau at the age of 13, and then worked for Don Thiele Concrete in Cape Girardeau. In 1976 he established Ulrich Concrete Finishing, which he owned and operated until his death. He retired from Local 908 Cement Masons in Cape Girardeau in 2002.

He was a former boys Little League softball and baseball coach in Jackson.

Bill was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his wife of 49 years; two sons, Bob (Lori) Ulrich of Shawneetown, Randy (special friend, Denise) Ulrich of Brewer, Mo.; a daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Bradshaw of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Blake Ulrich, Whitney (Danny Ray) Ivie, Erika Bradshaw, Alexis Ulrich, Bridget Ulrich, Brooks Bradshaw, Matthew Ulrich; and a sister, Mary Dickey of Scott City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with the Rev. David Hulshof officiating, assisted by Walter Biri. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Vincent's Catholic Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Saxony Lutheran High School or Notre Dame Regional High School.
