William Roberts "Bill" Smirl, 81, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at his home in North Carolina.
He was born April 13, 1934, in Seneca, Kansas.
Bill owned Bill's Pharmacy many years as well as the Hobby Hole. He was an avid fly fisherman and spent many years in his retirement in Bozeman, Montana, fishing many of the local fisheries.
He was president of the SEMO Model Airplane Club and not only enjoyed flying model airplanes but also had his private pilot's license. He was a great man, father, mentor and storyteller. He never met a stranger he wouldn't strike up a conversation with.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Keim Smirl, and three sons and their families, Chris and Ruping Smirl, Tim and Cheryl Smirl and August and Jill Smirl.
This world was truly blessed to have him for his short 81 years, and he will truly be missed.
American Cremation Services Inc. in Durham, North Carolina, was in charge of arrangements.
