William J. "Bill" Probst, 83, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Marble Hill, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 23, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, son of Fred Lee and Blanch Belle Knapp. He and Shirley J. Beard were married Oct. 6, 1956.
Bill was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. He was a service repairman many years for the former Flentge Appliance Store in Cape Girardeau and was a school bus driver for the Woodland School District in Marble Hill.
He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Jackson.
Through the years, Bill enjoyed raising birds, goats, chickens and other animals. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.
Loving survivors include his wife of 62 years, Shirley Probst of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Diana (Sandy) Fredman of Manchester, Missouri; two grandchildren, Josh and Katie Fredman; and three siblings, Harold and Mike Probst and Ersie Harris.
Bill was preceded in death by eight siblings, Kenneth, Roy, Dallas, Jerry, Daniel, Jerold, Larry and Juanita Probst.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Ben Stafford officiating. Interment will follow in New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Jackson.
