Bill Lamont passed away Saturday, May 6, 2006, at the Kansas City, Mo., Hospice House after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His friends and family remember him as a loyal and caring son, brother, and friend.

Bill, 30, was born Oct. 31, 1975, in Austin, Texas. He graduated from Ames High School in 1993. He then attended the University of Iowa where he received a bachelor of business administration in 1997.

While attending the University of Iowa, he was very active in the Delta Upsilon fraternity where he made many life-long friends. After graduation, he worked for Sprint Corp. in Overland Park, Kan., in various financial positions. While working for Sprint, Bill obtained his master of business administration from the University of Kansas in 2002. He also participated in several charitable activities and events including volunteering at the Restart Homeless Shelter. He enjoyed traveling with friends and sports activities.

He is survived by his parents, John and Kitty Lamont of Ames; a sister, Kathryn of Rochester, Minn.; an aunt, Marilyn Fisher of Ames.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Orestes and Dorthea Mitchell of St. Joseph, Mo.; and paternal grandparents William "Bill" and Thelma Lamont of Jackson.

A memorial service was held May 11 at Collegiate United Methodist Church in Ames. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
