Bill Roy Kitchen, 89, of Glenallen, Mo., died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 20, 1919, in Glenallen, son of Otto C. and Blanche D. Sample Kitchen. He and Florence "Cricket" Vance Kitchen were married May 24, 1941.

Kitchen worked for the Olin Winchester Plant as a furnace operator, was head of maintenance and caretaker of the McGee Chapel Cemetery for 30 years, honorary mayor of Route DD, member of the Grassy Neighborhood Watch and the Olin Skeet and Trap Club, and attended the New Trace Creek General Baptist Church.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Veda Woods of Charlotte, Mich.; a sister, Lois Long of Moro, Ill.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Terry.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glenallen.
