ADVANCE, Mo. -- William Marion "Bill" Gaines, 78, of Advance died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 15, 1921, near Puxico, Mo., son of Jessie and Bertha Duley Gaines. He and Edna Habada were married Dec. 7, 1946, at Lutesville, Mo.
Gaines was a mechanic 34 years with American Airlines in Tulsa, Okla., retiring in January 1984.
He was a member of Aircraft Union, and Puxico Masons AF&AM. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Gaines and wife, Arla, of Carmichael, Calif., Tracy Gaines of Tulsa; a brother, Lonnie Joe Gaines of Puxico; a sister, Imogene Woolard of Pontiac, Mich.; four grandchildren, Angela Gaines of Carmichael, Cassie Gaines of Tulsa, Jason Gaines of New York City, and Amy Tinsman and husband, Bryan, of Renton, Wash.; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Evelyn Matney of Advance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Morgan Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Revs. Ray Placher and Wayne Page will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery.
