GRAND CHAIN, Ill. -- William Levi "Bill" Crisman Sr., 78, of Grand Chain died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 8, 1929, in Cairo, Ill., son of Leroy and Viola Ivy Crisman. Crisman was a logger 54 years with Crisman and Sons Logging Co. GRAND CHAIN, Ill. -- William Levi "Bill" Crisman Sr., 78, of Grand Chain died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 8, 1929, in Cairo, Ill., son of Leroy and Viola Ivy Crisman.

Crisman was a logger 54 years with Crisman and Sons Logging Co. He was a member of Christian Community Ministries at Villa Ridge, Ill. He was formerly of Olive Branch, Ill.

Survivors include six sons, Edward Crisman and Bill Crisman Jr. of Karnak, Ill., Stuart Crisman of Grand Chain, Gerald Crisman of Keyesport, Ill., Floyd Crisman of Vernon, Ill., Christopher Crisman of Sweetwater, Tenn.; three daughters, Alicia Smelcer of West Frankfort, Ill., Ruth Horn of Metropolis, Ill., Jennifer Hamrell of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, James Crisman of Pekin, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Cairo City Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
