BEULAH MATHIS

EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Beulah Effie Mathis of Montgomery, Ala., will be held at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. Aubrey Wilson will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mathis, 96, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at the home of her daughter.

She was born March 11, 1901, in Manila, Ark., daughter of Oscar and Annie Ross Morgan. She and William Richard Mathis were married in 1920. He died in 1989.

Mathis had lived in Mississippi County most of her life.

Survivors include a daughter, June Collier Fletcher of Montgomery; a sister, Mae Mathis of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
