Betty J. Wilson, 89, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Monticello House.
She was born April 22, 1927, in St. James, Missouri, daughter of Hope E. and Virginia Tiffin Morton. She and Eugene Wilson were married Aug. 29, 1945, in Perryville, Missouri. He passed away Dec. 14, 2005.
Betty was a 1945 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked for the Cape Girardeau county collector for 26 years, retiring in 2000. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. She was a member of the Perdue Lear Circle and was a lifetime auxiliary member of the Altenthal-Joerns American Legion in Jackson. Betty and Eugene enjoyed spending time together traveling and camping.
Loving survivors include two children, Larry Wilson and Virginia (Michael) Browne of Jackson; a sister, Jackie Knight of Fairfax, Virginia; a brother, Donald (Sally) Morton of Chesterfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jeff Kinder of Jackson, Brent (Julia) Kinder and Melissa Childers of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kimberly Wilson of St. Petersburg, Florida; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at chapel B of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
The family suggests contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church in Jackson or Crown Hospice.
