Betty Smith

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Betty J. Smith, 66, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at her home.

She was born April 12, 1942, in Alto Pass, Ill., daughter of Harry and Beatrice Boshill Shepard. She and Jim "John" Smith were married May 9, 1959, in Jonesboro.

Smith retired from Anna Shoe Factory, where she worked 26 years. She then worked at Dyno-Nobel 13 years.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sandra Clements of Anna, Ill.; a son, Scott Smith of Jonesboro; a brother, Carl Shepard; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, a sister and three brothers.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Friday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Fear officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery in Anna.
