CHARLESTON -- Betty Lee Powell, 68, of Charleston died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Nov. 28, 1930, at Charleston, daughter of Leland and Willie Mae Baker Griffin. She and William Carman Powell were married Dec. 15, 1945. He died July 9, 1982.
Powell was a cook at Warren E. Hearnes Elementary School, retiring in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Frank Powell of Charleston; two daughters, Phyllis Davenport of Jackson, Tenn., Susie Stark of Sikeston; three brothers, Spencer Griffin of St. Charles, J.R. Griffin of Holly Grove, Ark., John Griffin of Branson; three sisters, Sue Norris and Jean Boyd of Dewitt, Ark., Margaret Glass of Charleston; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ted Wimberly officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
