POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Betty Jo Morrow-Spiker, 84, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, at Country Place Assisted Living in Scott City.

Born Aug. 28, 1935, at Braggadocio, Missouri, to the late Ralph Naile and Ethel Lee Howell Tesney, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late William Wes Tesney. She lived in Diehlstadt, Missouri, most of her life and had been employed with Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, Missouri. After the death of her first husband, she moved to Wappapello, Missouri, and later to Poplar Bluff where she had been employed as a cook at Twin Towers. Avid in reading and studying the Bible, she was of Baptist belief and later joined Highland Church of Christ.

On July 4, 1953, she married Garlan Morrow, who preceded her in death Oct. 1, 1994. She later married Dr. Robert Marshall Spiker on Sept. 13, 2003, and he preceded her in death June 19, 2016.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, William and Carol Weber Morrow of Jackson; granddaughters, Jessica (Travis) Sexton and Amanda (Luke) Nitsch; great-granddaughter, Remi Bruenderman; brother, Roger Tesney of Sikeston, Missouri; sister, Nelda Creek of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Don Tesney, and sister, Frankie Turner.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. George Nite, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, officiating. Interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
