Betty Louise Lunsford, daughter of the late Vernon Carl and Goldie Nee Barton, was born June 22, 1932, in Doe Run, Missouri, and departed this life Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 89 years.

Betty loved her church and church family at Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, Missouri, especially since Pastor Joe McCullough “told it how it was.” She loved to garden, cook, spend time with her grandchildren and telling stories. She had a keen ability to remember everything.

Betty married Dillard Lunsford in Farmington, Missouri. He preceded her death Sept. 24, 1999.

She is survived by a son, Carl (Cheryl) Graham of Bremen, Ohio; daughter, Tracy Mattingly of Sikeston; brother: Robert (Norine) Barton of Longmont, Colorado; sister: Carol (Phil) Campbell of Longmont; eight grandchildren, Carla Graham, James Graham, Chelsie (Taylor) Hardy, Clorissa Graham, Chance Graham, Dennis (Rachel) Peridore, Kenneth (Amanda Smith) Liggons and Bethany (Tremain Roberts) Liggons; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaron Stricker, Jayme Barks, Caleb Barks, Austin Graham, Bryanna Wilkins, Julie Price, Mariah( Liam Roberts) Price, Anakin Peridore, Tucker Peridore, Madison Liggons and Zachary Liggons; two great-great-grandchildren, Quinn Hardy and Corbin Weekly; and a special friend, Connie Day.

Apart from her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Winberry; sister, Aletha Lunsford; and brother, Vernon Barton.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Jan. 16, 2022, at the Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston with Pastor McCullough officiating.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
