BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Betty Lou Evans, daughter of the late Leslie Edward Lee and Beulah Archer Lee, was born June 18, 1931, in Bell City, Mo., and died Oct. 1, 2011, at her residence in Bloomfield at the age of 80.
Mrs. Evans was a seamstress at Elder's Manufacturing for 40 years before retiring. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Bloomfield where she was active in the United Methodist Women's Group. She was loved by family, friends and all who knew her.
On Nov. 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to James David Evans at Bloomfield. Mr. Evans preceded her in death April 29, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and husband Martin Lingle of Cape Girardeau and Phyllis and husband Dennis Gillespie of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Leslie Edward Lee Jr., and wife Delores of Peoria, Ill.; three sisters, Lois Lee of Iowa City, Iowa, Ruth Ann and husband Clark Anderson of Peoria and Monica Sue and husband Larry Gilmer of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Leslie Lee and husband Skye Marthaler of Washington, D.C., Ryan Evans and wife Kristen Gillespie of Nashville, Jason Williams of Cape Girardeau and Megan and husband Boone Wagner of Camdenton, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Olivia James Gillespie of Nashville; and one special friend, George Sifford of Puxico, Mo.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Mo.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Susan Hoyle officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Puxico.
