SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Betty Lee "Sophia" Simmons of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Flem Bronner will officiate, with burial in Warfield Cemetery at Oran.
Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Simmons, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 1992, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1924, at Bell City. She married James Simmons, who preceded her in death.
Simmons was a teacher at Head Start 27 years.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Simmons of Aberdeen, Miss., Fred, Stanley and Michael Simmons of Sikeston; four daughters, Carolyn Brown of Kent, Wash., Marietta Warfield, Shelia Simmons and Lois Dixon of Sikeston; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
