Betty Beard Kinder, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Southeast Hospital. She was born July 28, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Lester Charles and Stella Mae Park Burger Sr. She and Richard Ralph Beard Sr. were married June 10, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. Betty Beard Kinder, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born July 28, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Lester Charles and Stella Mae Park Burger Sr. She and Richard Ralph Beard Sr. were married June 10, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. She later married Howard Glen Kinder on April 5, 1991, in Florida. Both husbands preceded her in death.

Betty was a medical secretary with Internal Medicine and also did medical transcription for Southeast Hospital. She then owned her own secretarial service, Quill and Scroll, before working at Alcohol and Tobacco Control for the state of Missouri. Choosing early retirement, she then became a business owner.

Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering at La Croix United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Her family will miss her while knowing she is joyfully skipping in heaven.

Survivors include two sons, Richard R. "Buck" (Kathy) Beard of Jackson and Timothy (Melanie) Beard of Cape Girardeau; five daughters, Sande (Roy) Meyer of Cape Girardeau, Rhonda (William) Dorris of Shawneetown, Patricia (Mike) Fischer and Cyndy (Terry) Meadows of Cape Girardeau and Jeanie (Steven) Statler of Jackson; two brothers, Marvin Leroy (Rosalyn) Burger of Zalma, Mo., and Gerald Robert (Linda) Burger of Rockview, Mo.; a sister, Joyce Schmitz of Jackson; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, Max Edward Burger and Lester Charles Burger Jr.; and a sister, Samelia Burger.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron Watts officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to La Croix United Methodist Church and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
