ADVANCE, Mo. -- Betty Ellen deCelis Haynie, 92, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Advance, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau. She was born May 24, 1928, in McGee, Missouri, the daughter of Byron and Nancy Jane Haddock deCelis.
Betty was a Zalma (Missouri) High School graduate. She loved gardening, embroidery and quilting. For more than 50 years she had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Advance United Methodist Church.
Betty and Mack Haynie were united in marriage in 1948, and he preceded her in death June 1, 2004.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Mueller and Linda (John) Price, both of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Elizabeth (Doug) Glenn of Jackson; two great-grandsons, Fred Lincoln Scherer IV and Sterling Price Scherer; and special family members, Keith and Carolyn Price of Greenbrier, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mack Haynie; two sisters, Roxie Crisel and Rita Hodge; a brother, Dorse E. deCelis; and a son-in-law, Dan Mueller.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Keith Price officiating. Burial will follow at McGee New Hope Cemetery in McGee.
