Betty Erson, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct. 16, 1917 in Garrison, Iowa, the daughter of the late Clair and Hazel Hollingsworth. On Nov. 14, 1941, she married Roy J. Erson in Minneapolis. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2005.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1935 and the Minnesota School of Business in 1936, she worked many years as a secretary and bookkeeper for various companies in Minnesota, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Council House Redevelopment Corp. in St. Louis, retiring in 1978. She also was a member of Teamsters Local 688 in St. Louis.

Survivors include two sons, Tom (Karan) Erson of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and Jeff (Holly) Erson of Black Mountain, North Carolina; one daughter, Christine (Carl) Gross of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Greg Erson, and a brother, Richard Hollingsworth.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
