Betty Colyer

Betty Jane Colyer, 86, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of McClure, Illinois, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born to Barnett and Willie Edwards Adams July 19, 1934, in Bardwell, Kentucky.

She and William "Witz" M. Colyer were married at Cairo, Illinois, on May 3, 1953.

He preceded her in death in 2001.

She was a member of East Cape Baptist Church.

She owned and operated Witz's Restaurant 13 years and was famous for her pies. She loved gardening and boating and spending time on the Mississippi River with her husband. Betty loved her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Keith) Sorrell of Buncombe, Illinois; Karen (Mark) Eovaldi of Carterville, Illinois; and Billi (Paul Zajicek) Colyer of Marble Hill, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Will Myers, Sarah Raben, Amanda Neilson, Geri Johnson, Taylor Dill, Jake Ellis and Molly Ellis; and nine great-grandchildren, Shelbi, Olivia, Eliana, Emma, Randall, Finley, Luke, Cole and Ellie.

There will be no visitation

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home, with the Rev. Danny Miller officiating. Burial will be at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
